Operating income divided by revenue.
What it means
Operating margin shows profit after operating costs but before some non-operating items such as interest and taxes. Definitions depend on reported operating income.
Example
If operating income is $20 and revenue is $100, operating margin is 20%.
What not to infer
Operating margin does not show cash conversion, leverage, or non-operating risks by itself.
