What it means
Volume describes market activity. It can be reviewed daily, intraday, or over longer windows and is often paired with liquidity, float, and price movement.
Example
A stock that trades 20 million shares in a day had daily volume of 20 million shares.
What not to infer
Volume does not show the motive or information quality of market participants.
