Ownership

Institutional ownership

Ownership reported by institutions such as investment managers, funds, banks, or advisers.

What it means

Institutional ownership data can come from 13F filings and other public sources. It is often delayed and may omit asset types or exposures outside the reporting form.

Example

A 13F holder table may show managers that reported positions in a stock at quarter-end.

What not to infer

Institutional ownership is context, not a complete current holder list or recommendation.
